MHBA & SPHBC Recipe Book Project
Minnesota Home Brewers Association and St. Paul Homebrewers Club members--how would you like to see your award-winning homebrew recipes in print? Submit your recipes to the MHBA & SPHBC Recipe Book Project!
The recipe book will feature award-winning beer, mead, and cider recipes supplied by club members, laid out in 28 chapters based on the BJCP Style Guidelines. Each chapter will begin with a list of the style subcategories and a brief description of each style (from the 2004 BJCP Style Guideline). The recipes will be printed on cardstock in a spiral-bound book, suitable for use by the home brewer.
Recipe Book Benefits
Both MHBA and SPHBC place strong emphasis on training members to become BJCP judges. The recipe book can be used as a study guide for the twice-yearly BJCP class, since recipe formation is one of the questions on the test.
The printed recipe book can be used to promote the MHBA and SPHBC both locally and nationally by offering it for sale at club meetings, local contests, and on the club websites.
Submitting Your Recipes
We hope to acquire 1-3 recipes for each style subcategory from MHBA and SPHBC club members. Both extract and all-grain recipes will be included. Each recipe will also include the club member's name, BJCP rank, club membership, brief description of the recipe, and a list of awards that the recipe has won. Preference will be given to recipes that have won national (AHA/NHC) competitions. To keep any one member's recipes from dominating the book and to get the most club members involved as possible, we would like to limit recipe entries to perhaps 5-6 per person.
For more details, or to submit a recipe (or two or three!), please contact G.L. Exire LaTour, the organizer of the project. You may use this form (MS Word format) to aid in composing and formatting your submissions. Once you've filled out a form with your recipe information, save the document and send it in!
Thank you for your interest! With your help, this recipe book should be a great success!
